Ebb and Flow Report --
a weekly list of stocks on the move
Every week we review all the stocks listed on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ, roughly 6400 securities in all. As a byproduct of this process we generate swing signals based on Bollinger Bands, Williams %R and a couple of other technical analysis indicators. The weekly Ebb and Flow list uses a similar approach but is based on weekly data rather than daily data
This is an example of an algorithmic trading strategy using stock price history where our software determines when a stock has exhausted a short-to-medium term cycle trend and is headed in the opposite direction. We use the 20-week moving average as the baseline and Bollinger Bands to provide cycle boundaries of twice the standard deviation of the stock's daily price action.
The signals in our Ebb and Flow list can be used for trading over the intermediate term of weeks or months. Our Ebb and Flow Signals provide BUY SELL signals you can use for buying or shorting stocks and for ETF trading.
- SELL Signals
Using weekly data, we look for stocks that have broken over their upper Bollinger Band and have subsequently fallen between one quarter and one-and-a-half standard deviations below their upper Bollinger Band during the course of the last two months. Williams %R and Slow Stochastics are used to confirm the signal along with some short-term trending techniques.
- BUY Signals
Using weekly data, we look for stocks that have broken below their lower Bollinger Band and have then risen between one quarter and one-and-a-half standard deviations above their lower Bollinger Band during the course of the last two months. Again, Williams %R and Slow Stochastics are used to confirm the signal along with some short-term trending techniques.
