Q: What Is It?
Are you day-trading, swing trading, or investing for the long term?  It doesn't matter - - all types of investors and traders are finding the E-Zone System a valuable trading tool.
Formerly available at HottingerSignals.com, we have now brought the E-Zone Trading System here to TradingStockAlerts.com so we can provide a complete end-to-end service for all investors.

Use our stock screeners and Alert HQ to find the best stocks and ETFs and then use the E-Zone System to guide your trading!
Hottinger's E-Zone System is superior to any other investment or charting tool you may have seen.  It develops your personal stock timing and trading signals for next day and next week using the latest in genetic programming.

And, these E-Zone signals are easy to use.  More than just a "Buy" or "Sell," you get actual numbers on which to base your orders: the Entry Zone and the Exit Zone for the next trading period.

Within an hour of the U.S. markets closing you will be able to log in and see your buy signals and sell signals for tomorrow. Portfolio Example

Your trading signals first appear as blinking arrows in your portfolio.

Members also receive nightly email alerts.  Daytrader charts are updated throughout the day.

The E-Zone System far outperforms Bollinger bands and channels, and is a natural addition for anyone using technical analysis. Its information does not end with the day's closing value; nor does it simply push a straight line into the future. Buy signals and Sell signals are generated by a dynamic, not a static, program.

(for more on bands, channels, and genetic programming, see Product Description page)
Q: Why It Works?
View Of Hottinger Chart Wise investors know that stocks do not all trade in the same cycle.

There are always stocks that go up on a day the market drops, and stocks that drop on days when the market rises.  Yet investors search for "stock market timing," when what they really need is "timing for the actual stocks & funds in their portfolio."  This is not sector investing or stock market timing.  These are timing signals for your own personal stocks and funds.

Astute investors and swing traders also realize that envelope channels and bollinger bands are only "past history."  The E-zone numbers are a recognized improvement: useful forward projections.

The E-Zone System helps you
  • avoid costly "buy & hold" mistakes.
  • build a sensible investing strategy.
  • increase your wealth with an easy-to-follow proven program.
  • understand when to sell & when to buy, and when to be in money-market.
For too many investors, "buy and hold" has not been a winning strategy.  It takes over 4 years to recover a 50% loss if the stock grows each year by 20%.  BUT, most stocks do not grow at 20% a year - - - the average growth is just 12%!!!  It could take over 6 years to recover from a 50% loss in any of your stocks.
The E-Zones Explained
Q: How do other subscribers use the "E-Zone" signals?
Subscribers generally prepare to lessen a holding once its daily price has entered the "Exit Zone", and a down-trend has been confirmed by one or more of the previous Exit Points, and a change in the short-term trend line.  Depending on the individual's tolerance for risk, he may close his entire position on the first signal, or he may lighten up in stages as more daily closings appear in the "Exit Zone".  Conversely, preparation to re-enter begins as the daily price enters the "Entry Zone", and an up-trend is confirmed by a change in one or more of the short-term lines.  Entry is usually done in stages, again depending on individual tolerance for risk.
Q: Why do you have both daily and weekly signal charts?
Investors with a longer-term outlook generally will use the weekly charts.  These charts produce wider zones, and thus fewer trades.  Investors using the daily charts may also find the weekly charts useful to confirm their decisions, especially if the daily zones have converged and have significantly narrowed.  If the daily zones have narrowed severely, a break-out is imminent and thus the weekly zones should be examined.
Q: How can I switch the stocks or funds in my portfolio?
Just follow the directions on your private portfolio page.  You can add or delete stocks from your portfolios at any time. You can create new portfolios or delete old portfolios.
Q: What is the Quick-Quote page for?
Prior to adding this feature, it was necessary to modify the portfolio in order to see E-Zones for a new symbol.  Quick-Quote has been added so members now can easily view the E-Zones for any symbol, and then add it to their portfolio if they wish.
Q: I live overseas - - will the E-Zone Signals work for me?
Since we try to have all signals prepared by 7:30 PM (ET), the following day's numbers should be available prior to NYSE market opening to all overseas subscribers in time zones no more than 14 hours ahead of the U.S. Eastern time zone.

Note that users interested in non-U.S. stocks will need to add a suffix to the stock symbol that is compatible with Yahoo! data. For example, Canadian stocks that trade on the Toronto stock exchange would need to be set up with a ".TO" tacked onto the end of the symbol.

You can see a list of all the exchanges supported by Yahoo! data [ here ] at Yahoo's Exchanges page.

Q: What is an E-Mail Alert?
This additional service is available for those members who may be too busy to log on daily, but who can receive e-mails by PDA or cell phone, and want to know if any of their investments have entered an Exit or an Entry zone.  They also receive a nightly ALERT anytime a stock or fund in their portfolio has moved into a different zone.
Q: Why are some of the Indicator Arrows blinking?
The blinking arrow indicates that that stock or fund has just moved into a different E-Zone.
Q: How do Hottinger's E-Zone Signals and Bollinger bands differ?
Bollinger bands are static.  They begin with a moving average line built on "x" number of days, "x" being set by the user or by default (usually 30).  Then lines are drawn above and below this moving average line, by adding plus & minus "y" number of standard deviations to this moving average.  Again, the user can set "y", but by default it is normally 2.  Though "x" and "y" are adjustable, the bands remain static after the user has made those choices.  Also, Bollinger bands are historical: they do not project forward.

The E-Zones may look similar to Bollinger bands, but they are decidedly different.  Our E-Zones are dynamic.  The "x" and the "y" are adjusted at the end of each trading day with a proprietary program that takes into account fundamental market indicators like volumes, trends, betas, etc.  This program calculates separately a best "x" and "y" for the Entry zone and for the Exit zone of each stock and mutual fund.  Then these E-Zone numbers are projected ahead for the next day (or week, for those using the weekly signals).  Hottinger's E-Zone Signals provide a user with better, more timely information, and with helpful forward projections which Bollinger bands lack.
Q: Can option-traders use the E-Zone signals?
The E-Zone signals do not track individual options, but the daily and weekly zone information on the underlying stock can be useful, especially for traders using options with near-term expirations.
